Porth Trecastell Beach, Anglesey

In and Around the Area

Camp Bongo is situated in the stunning Welsh island of Anglesey. A region on its own full of outstanding nature, picturesque towns, and phenomenal beaches.

Rhosneigr, the closest town to the campsite is a beach side paradise where surfing, paddle boarding, wind surfing, and even diving is possible. With its very own surf shop, equipment is waiting to be hired. Even if it’s your first time, lessons are of the plenty. A little further away you can explore Beaumaris castle (Castell Biwmares), a huge 13th century fortress. An architectural beauty waiting to be explored. Close to Beaumaris Castle you can catch a boat to Puffin Island (Ynys Seiriol), home to coastal birds and even the Atlantic Grey Seals. This trip is a unique afternoon out.

Along the coast of Anglesey, you will find several stunning beaches. However, sand isn’t the only beautiful sight that lines the coast. South Stack Lighthouse is situated on its own little island off the west coast of Anglesey, northwest of Holyhead. Originally built in 1809, this perfect white lighthouse is a local landmark. Pack your walking shoes though, because there is 400 steps to contend with.

What’s even more spectacular about the location of Camp Bongo is that within 45-minute drive you can be in the heart of Snowdonia National Park (Parc Cenedlaethol Eryri). Breath-taking scenery and walks amongst one of the most picturesque places in the whole of the UK. There is even a train to the summit of Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa)

Camp Bongo’s amazing location is situated in a place where beach meets mountains!

FUN FACT

Camp Bongo is named after our wee Italian stallion Bongo. Our super cute little rescue dog from the island of Sardinia. Bongo came into our lives while we were managing a campsite on this magical Italian island in 2019. He strolled up to our campervan and stole our hearts looking for a bite to eat and never left our side. Since then, our special little guy has travelled all over Europe and the UK with us and has became quite the little camping dog.
So if you have any suggestions or feedback Bongo is eagerly waiting.
